Left unattended, a gearbox issue can have a damaging impact on other internal components of your vehicle. So the best thing to do if you think you your vehicle has a gearbox problem is to have it checked straight away.
The first step is determining what the problem is. At PSC we use main dealer diagnostic equipment to carry out an initial electronic diagnostic service. This gives us live data from the gearbox, as well as a report we share with you, detailing the fault codes within the DSG gearbox. We'll explain what they mean, and how they can be resolved.
This diagnostics process costs £99 including VAT. If your vehicle's DSG gearbox displays a fault, we will provide a full quote before carrying out any remedial works.
All of our DSG repairs or reconditioned components come with a 12 Month / 12000 Mile Warranty.

DSG repair is a highly specialised area, and you may find that your local garage is unable to help you with these complex gearbox diagnostics and repair. We have a local reputation as experts in our field and are currently the preferred DSG repair centre for at least 10 other local car workshops.
If you’ve received a quote from your local main dealer and are looking for a second opinion, we can also help. Many main dealer centres will recommend an entire gearbox replacement – but a repair can be a more cost effective option, and we have the expertise to assist.
A DSG transmission system uses two separate clutches, controlling two gearbox shafts. This process is operated by a high-pressure mechatronic unit, which in turn is controlled by a standalone internal computer called a TCM – or Transmission Control Module.
What all this means is faster and smoother gear changes, making it not only a more enjoyable driving experience but also safer and more reliable.
It’s a sophisticated and complex system – and one that we know inside out!
Diagnosing the issue with your DSG gearbox – and doing so accurately – is the essential first step to repairing it.
Because your DSG transmission is a complex piece of technology, many repair centres – including the main dealers – don’t know the ins and outs of how it works. Rather than opting for diagnosis and repair, many suggest the costly option of a whole new transmission system. This is almost always not necessary, and a repair will fix the problem you’re experiencing at a more reasonable cost.
We always prioritise repair over replacement and have put years of work into understanding how to accurately diagnose and fix an extensive range of DSG issues. We enjoy it, we get a thrill from fixing what others can’t – and you’ll benefit from the savings!
We're an accredited ZF ProTech Direct Shift Gearbox Centre.
Plus, our VW Audi Group Trained Technicians have extensive knowledge and experiance of all aspects of DSG Mechatronics Systems.
Each of our DSG repairs comes with a 12 month 12000 mile warranty. We don’t think you’ll need to use it – but it’s peace of mind that any repairs to your gearbox are done to a prime standard with quality replacement parts.
In 2008 a 7-speed "dry clutch" DSG gearbox was introduced and was limited to models with engines under 2000cc with engines that are transversely orientated in the engine bay.
The unit was indentified as the DQ200 0AM later to be superceeded by the 0CW prefix.
Also, in 2008 an alternative longitudinal 7-speed "wet clutch" version was released initially on Audi models. This unit was designed to allow the same dual clutch gearbox concept to be fitted on the larger, more powerful models in the VW Audi Group range which adopted the longitudinal mounted engine type on engines of 2000cc upwards. The unit known as an S-Tronic rather than DSG had an identification code of DL501 with an 0B5 part number prefix.
If you think your vehicle might be suffering from a fault and as with all gearbox issues, it is best to get it looked at straight away as it could save the customer substantial amounts on their repair bill.
We offer an initial electronic diagnostic service with our main dealer diagnostic equipment. This shows us live data from the gearbox as well as a report for the customer to see the fault codes within the DSG unit. This essential first step is £99 including VAT and usually takes around 2 hours to complete.
Regular servicing is essential for all DSG wet clutch variants. Please use the above Main Menu and select your vehicle to view pricing and book online. If you're unsure then please call our service department for more details.
The general rule is that once you've selected your vehicle from the Main Menu above and it shows that we offer a DSG oil and filter change for that model then it will have a wet clutch DSG gearbox. If it doesn't show that we offer one then it will have a dry clutch gearbox which does not have a recommended oil change interval.
We love hearing from you and we really care what you think. So whether you want to sing the praises of one of our team or simply give us a piece of your mind; we’re here to listen.
