Your DSG / S-tronic Quattro gearbox is a very sophisticated piece of engineering that needs to be looked after with regular oil changes. The smooth 2-clutch system is computer controlled with very fine engineering tolerances. If the gearbox oil is dirty, it will damage other parts and affect performance.
Dirty oil can overheat the gearbox or cause the clutches to burn out. This will lead to poor gear selection, loss of drive and transmission failure.
The DL382 transmission is used exclusively in Audi vehicles with longitudinal (or inline) transmissions, meaning the engine/transmission power-train travel along the length of the vehicle rather than side to side. It is a seven speed transmission that makes use of a wet clutch assembly.
This transmission uses two separate types of oil in two separate chambers; one for the hydraulic circuit and wet clutch, and another for gear train lubrication. The decision to separate the two types of oil was made to increase the reliability of the transmission by preventing cross-contamination between the two main points of wear and tear debris.
Your S-Tronic gearbox clutch oil on this transmission should be replaced 35,000 miles for first change; 40,000 miles for all subsequent changes.
Depending on your vehicle, the filter may need to be changed as well. All the gearbox automatic transmission fluid oil needs to be replaced.
What happens when we perform an oil & filter change
During an oil check, we check the gearbox and look for any leaks. We drain the gearbox completely and replace the oil filter before filling it with high-quality gearbox oil that meets manufacturer standards.
IMPORTANT: The gearbox has to be completely cold when performing this procedure. We would require the vehicle to be dropped off at least 4 hours before we begin the procedure to allow the gearbox to cool. You're more than welcome to drop the vehicle off with us the day before if you wish.
