Mini R56/57 [N12 Engine] Timing Chain Death Rattle Replacement

Timing Chain Death Rattle is an issue that is commonly found in the MINI N12 engine from 2006-2013.

The issue relates to the spring-loaded timing chain tensioner becoming less efficient or failing which in turn leads to a slacking of the timing chain which in turn hits the timing chain guide rails and as a result leads to damage to these guides. Hence, the noise! 

If left unchecked the end result is usually the timing chain snaps whilst the engine is running. The associated costs of repair to the damaged engine can be quite painful. This a cost effective replacement service when compared to potentially serious engine damage.
